Find out what’s going on and what you can get involved in at the People’s Museum.

Here’s what’s going on at the Somers Town People’s Museum:

SQUAT! HISTORY JAM
HISTORY CLUB IS BACK!

Were you a squatter in Levita House, Charrington Street or Camden? Do you have memories of radical movements of the 70s and 80s?

Come along to the first of our new History Jams – where we share memories of radical history.

Professor Esther Leslie leads a Q&A with author Syd Rosen, author of International Freak: Robin Farquharson and the Dream of Psychedelic Revolt.

Farquharson lived on Charrington Street, an extraordinary mathematician who had dropped out, as his 1968 book, Drop Out!, recounts. During his time living in “open university” squat communities he met the poet Aidan Andrew Dun and the psychiatrist R. D. Laing, among others.

History Jam: Squat!

Were you a young Radical in Camden?

We’d love to record your memories for a record of Camden’s young activism – when you were a teenager or young adult – politics, feminism, squatting.

We’re interested in memories of those aged 14-26 at the time as this is for a joint project
with Museum of Youth Culture.

R!OT WOMEN! is a new group – for women to share tips, support and build confidence – inspired by a certain BBC show! Middle age is the perfect age to start a new venture but many face support where all seems focused on youth. We’re starting monthly meetings in a supportive female-only friendly small peer group at the cosy environment at the museum.
Keep on track with your plans with mutual support.
Calling all over-40 women who are inspired to start again but tired of being ‘written off’ and ageist attitudes.
